Easter picnic ideas for spring outings and garden gatherings, from Emma Britton Decorative Glass Designer. Whether you’re enjoying some relaxed family time at home, cooking up an Easter feast or venturing out for some fresh air, we’ve got you covered with tips to maximise the fun and minimise the effort!

10 top tips for Easter Weekend hosting

1. If you’re hosting an at-home picnic, set an alfresco table to make displaying your treats easier. You can keep seating relaxed with rugs, blankets and chairs to suit, while keeping your Easter spread looking its best in dishes and platters on the table.

2. A bunch of zingy yellow blooms feels right for Easter, and makes a lovely centrepiece for Easter picnic tables inside or out. You don’t need to be a florist – garden flowers, budding branches and greenery make for a pleasingly easy spring arrangement.

3. Pretty tea towels are a picnic must-have. Great for polishing and wrapping up glassware, covering up food outside, and for making the washing up afterwards a little brighter!

4. Silver Birch tumblers are a great choice for glassware. Durable and robust, they are ideal for outside dining, whilst being stackable so easy to carry lots of too. Fill yours with juices or homemade lemonade, try this recipe.

5. We can’t always bank on fair English weather in April, so go prepared with warm drinks too! Hot chocolate in flasks is a winner for all ages, decorate with mini easter eggs too for fun.

6. For Easter feast supplies, venture to your local farmers market. You can pick up seasonal produce and fresh bread for sandwiches from independent traders that is certain to be nicer than the supermarket.

7. If you fancy taking your picnic on the road, then Wentworth Woodhouse is a great location for families. Picnic in the park on their giant deckchairs and wander amongst the woodland, you might even spot some deer. If you head into their gift shop, you can stock up on Emma Britton glassware too.

8. For an especially posh picnic, there’s no reason not to pack up a decorative wine glass set and a bottle of something delicious. Just be sure to wrap up your glassware well and pack it into a sturdy bag or hamper for safe travels.

9. An Easter picnic certainly isn’t complete without eggs of some kind! Get a little crafty and try your hand at decorating eggs in Emma’s signature floral style. Foxgloves, iris and magnolia are some of Emma’s favourites to paint.

10. Lastly, if you prefer keeping things traditional (or if the weather takes a turn!), you can’t beat an Easter roast. Compliment your cooking with a bottle of red, served up in a Silver Birch decorative wine decanter.
