Tranquil Kitchen Inspiration: Using the Colour of the Year 2026 in your Home
Have you heard of Pantone’s Colour of the Year? This year, it’s a surprisingly neutral shade. Aptly named ‘Cloud Dancer’, this light and airy off-white evokes calm and tranquility. It’s a great base colour for your kitchen or bathroom, a clean canvas to coordinate with many other colours and finishes, including an Emma Britton Splashback. We’ve chosen three of Emma’s decorative splashbacks that tone beautifully with the Colour of the Year 2026, for creating a truly tranquil kitchen look.
The Pantone Colour Institute select a new Colour of the Year annually. Though Emma’s pattern designs aren’t influenced by trends, it’s nice to see how her timeless style resonates with new interior fashions. The designs and projects chosen for this journal post feature from Emma’s extensive collections of ready-to-go glass splashbacks. Including textural, geometric and floral splashback designs created specifically for kitchen and bathrooms.
Emma Britton Splashbacks for Tranquil Kitchen Looks
Although Emma Britton splashbacks are primarily recognised for their confidently colourful signature look (take Emma’s Up the Garden Path floral splashback designs for example), there are many designs in Emma’s collections that offer a more pared-back style. Use the below Emma Britton splashbacks alongside wall paint or cabinetry in the off-white Colour of the Year, for kitchens that ooze quiet luxury and calm.
Willow & Red Admiral
Cascading willow boughs in painterly blues and greens are the picture of tranquility. This leafy splashback design looks particularly great when used beneath a cooker hood, wall cupboards or shelves. Choose cabinetry in a ‘Cloud Dancer’ inspired colour and kitchen accessories in harmonising sage greens.
Country Garden
This popular floral splashback looks as striking in a neutral kitchen as it does in one with darker, coloured cabinetry. With a fresh colour palette that invigorates your space and invites the joy of a summer garden indoors, year-round. For a really sophisticated look that creates a focal point of the splashback, pair with a neutral range cooker and shaker-style cabinetry.
White Geo in Maple
This stunning yet understated geometric splashback offers the classic look of tiles, but with all the practicality of made-to-measure glass. With a maple wood effect background for subtle warmth, the look is fresh and clean. It adds subtle interest to this contemporary cottage kitchen, coordinated beautifully with oak herringbone floor and off-white walls. A great Everhot splashback too for this white 90i cooker.
