Best Tips to Care for Glassware

1. Always wash your new glassware before first use. We clean all glassware before it heads off in the post, wrapped in acid-free, paper based protective packaging. However, its always good to make sure your new buys are fresh and sparkling before filling with something delicious.

Emma’s professional glassware cleaning tip: for a restaurant-standard shine, fill a jug with boiling water, and hold your glasses over the top to fill with steam. Then simply polish the condensation away with a soft cotton tea towel.

2. We always recommend hand washing your glassware, for best practise. Although Emma’s signature etch-finish patterns are durable, glassware fairs much better against breakages in a gentle sink wash rather than the dishwasher. You’re much less likely to knock them the old fashioned way.

3. Wash your glassware in warm soapy water for the best sparkle. Never use boiling water, and never fill warm glasses with ice.

4. Avoid using metal cutlery or stirrers in your glassware. A glass, paper or wooden straw or stirrer is much better choice if you need one. 

5. When you’re serving a crowd, use a tray instead of picking up clusters of glasses. Emma has lots of beautiful patterned ones to choose from, that complement her glassware designs wonderfully. 

6. Don’t stack glasses, unless they’re designed to be stacked of course. Meadow and Silver Birch plant pot-shaped tumblers are ideal for stacking as they are toughened and extra durable; a brilliant choice if you’re short on cupboard space!
