Calm & Cosy Bathroom Ideas
If you’re like me, then you love nothing better than a cosy bathroom to unwind in once the nights start to draw in. I’m all for curating beautiful spaces that inspire and bring joy, because bathrooms definitely shouldn’t be plain or clinical-feeling. I’ve collated some ideas below of how to style a bathroom that evokes warmth and relaxation. Perfect for an autumn home refresh.

Creating a Cosy Bathroom
My number one consideration for any room is the colour palette. A dark accent wall will add immediate ambiance and depth to a plain bathroom, so do be brave and try colour drenching in a moody shade. I love the on-trend aubergine colour palette, but this deep navy and black combination feels both timeless and contemporary.
If dark colours aren’t your style, a warming palette of terracotta and blush give a golden hour glow to bathrooms. My ‘Rain Garden splashback is perfect for a warm bathroom look, as it’s suffused with copper details that catch the light. This deep, roll top tub that it’s paired with is the ultimate for luxury bathing, and really brings out the copper in the splashback too.
Adding in some subtle yet luxurious textures will create a spa-like look that feels plush and sumptuous. For example, the shower screen below is hand-painted with silver leaf, which twinkles in low light. Additional warm-coloured lighting like decorative sconces or downlights (rather than a stark ceiling light) are key to a cosy bathroom ambience.
For this super stylish bathroom, I also designed and made three etched glass art panels. Tactility in your surfaces and accessories makes a space feel inviting and interesting. I’m a big believer in decorating your bathroom like you would any other room – prints and pattern definitely do belong!
Finally, don’t overlook the calming powers of plants. Whether real or illustrative, greenery adds a natural energy to a space. An easy win is choose some humidity-loving houseplants such as ferns or peace lilies. But to really channel this naturalistic look, my GLASSHOUSE splashback collection is a perfect choice. This bathroom features a cascading willow design within a rainfall shower, for an immersive, forest-bathing feel and look.
