Time to Design A Bespoke Splashback
If you’ve recently spent time in a beautiful kitchen, what did you notice most? I often find it’s the details. Like a well chosen handle or some artisan stools – perhaps I’m bias, but glass splashbacks of course. It’s these elements that make a room soulful for me. If you’re thinking beyond cabinetry and worktops, taking the time to design a bespoke splashback for you is a privilege for me and the possibilities are endless.
The beautiful thing about my bespoke splashbacks is they aren’t off the shelf. I paint and craft them in my studio for you as one off individual pieces. It means that lead times can be months and definitely won’t be days. The reward however is going to be something truly beautiful. Whilst I offer a portfolio of ready-to-go glass splashback designs that have a quicker turnaround, bespoke splashbacks offer something more personal.
I specialise in works inspired by your garden, surroundings and favourite garden flowers. The designs range from very realistic to more graphic and tonal and can be created in my signature repeat style. But please do drop me a line for a no-obligation chat about the project you’ve got in mind. Lead Times for Bespoke Splashbacks
Sometimes I might be booked up when you enquire, and I’ll schedule you into my next available design slot. But see this as a good sign. It means when it’s time to start your project, I’ll be giving it the full attention it deserves. A bespoke design always works best with clarity from the outset – you might be very specific or give over creative freedom but I’ll make sure I understand your expectations when we begin. It’s completely normal for anything bespoke and artisan made to take time.
Any of my splashbacks and bespoke projects can be retro-fitted to suit your space so if you’re simply refreshing your kitchen, or bathroom, this is totally an option. However, the best results often come from having a vision for your splashback as part of your overall room design from the beginning. Knowing the look of your splashback can help with choosing other finishes like worktops and handles. Alternatively, if you’ve decided on these they can help inform the splashback design.
Technical Points
From a technical perspective it’s SO helpful to discuss splashback positioning from the outset. For example, if its a splashback for an Everhot or AGA, AGA’s in particular, it can make sense to fit the glass before the cooker is in place. They are very heavy and sometimes nearly impossible to move once located. If there are any sockets where your splashback is planned, I can ensure they’re correctly positioned to be cut out of glass.

Time to Design a Bespoke Splashback
Creativity is an evolution of ideas. To settle on the look and feel of your bespoke splashback for functionally and aesthetic enjoyment, a whole host of interactions take place. It might be thoughtful exchanges over a cup of tea with me to detailed design and technical consultations. I’ll play with the colour palette and cast a critical eye at every stage. The shared excitement that comes with bespoke projects built on time and trust, where skill and craft is valued are always so enjoyable.

Refining Your Design
The time to design your splashback is in those little tweaks. An extra flower painted in for balance or a subtle colour change to tone with other finishes. Ultimately, Emma Britton bespoke splashbacks are an investment for the long term, to bring your room together and feel personal. An anchor through the timeless statement made, without being trend led.

When you choose my bespoke splashback design service, it’s to embrace the nature of the process as much as the finished result. Part of your investment is in my skills. Years of training, honing my brushstrokes, experimenting and my expertise as a glass designer to create a splashback you’ll love. It’s not quick or rushed, but that’s the beauty of it.
The Emma Britton splasback you’ll get as the end result really is a collaboration. Worthy of the time invested, care and attention to create something beautiful.
