How to Get your Guest Rooms Ready for Christmas
Getting guest rooms ready for Christmas visitors may sound like another job to do amongst the bustle of the festive season. Emma’s outlook is that hosting at home should be fun, never stressful, and especially not so at Christmas. So, let us take the pressure off of entertaining and arm you with five little tricks to quickly refresh your guest rooms and get them ready for a flurry of visitors.
Whether you’re hosting far-flung relatives or just having some friends over for the night, these little ideas will certainly impress. We’ve included essentials from Emma’s glassware collections and favourites from other independent brands too. Read this, then you’re ready to sit back, relax, and enjoy your company.
Step-by-Step Getting Guest Rooms Ready for Christmas:
1. It goes without saying to first give the rooms a quick clean and dusting. Tidy away any bits you’ve been meaning to get to, and let in some fresh air. Our friends Norfolk Natural Living (styled here with Silver Birch Mini Carafe) create lovely, natural cleaning products that are perfect for spritzing the space and adding a spa-like scent. Pick up some of their sleep balm to ensure your guests get their full forty winks!
2. Now you’ve got a blank canvas to work with, it’s time to add the fun touches. Have a carafe and water glass ready on the bedside, so they aren’t looking for a glass in the night. Choose either the Meadow design or Silver Birch pattern, or mix and match one for either side of the bed.

3. Make it feel super homely and welcoming with plenty of blankets, cushions and throws. A hot water bottle would be nice too, if it’s particularly chilly. So Cosy are the best for buttery soft, home textiles.
4. Add a little bunch of flowers or dried arrangement on the sideboard or desk. You don’t need to go overboard with christmas decorations, so a little seasonal arrangement will do the trick without adding clutter. Dried eryngiums, honesty or poppy heads feel a little bit festive and are the perfect size for a bud vase.
5. If they’re staying over christmas, a little stocking filler gift will make them feel extra special. Their favourite sweet treat, miniature tipple and a pretty glass to enjoy it from makes for a thoughtful bundle they can enjoy during their stay and take home. Gift wrap guru Jane Means has shared some fabulously easy wrapping ideas for little gifts like this over on our Instagram page.
Finally!
When you know guests are close, an arrival drink would be a much appreciated welcome. A pot of freshly brewed tea (Emma’s fine bone china teapot in her design collaboration with Duchess China 1888 is perfect) steeping mulled wine or a festive mocktail – the choice is yours. Christmas is a time for enjoying company with those you love, so getting organised early means less stress, and more fun.
