Get Inspired: Coloured Cabinetry and Curved Edges with Country Garden Splashback

Emma Britton Country Garden Splashback Hob Splashback

Making my Country Garden splashback design for projects is always exciting, and this kitchen is no exception that features a shaped glass splashback in the pattern. Thanks to Warren Hughes Kitchen Designer, Tilly, who came across my stylish floral splashbacks when she was looking for one to to include in a client project. It’s been a brilliant commission to work on together.

This Devon kitchen is a really beautiful space, brought together through high quality craftsmanship and design. It shows you how to successfully pair my Country Garden pattern with block colour cabinetry, and how including a curved, shaped glass splashback can give your room flow and balance.

My Country Garden splashback design is such a popular choice from my Up The Garden Path Collection because it is so versatile. It features with great effect in kitchens and bathrooms across the UK and America too.

Take a moment to find out more about this gorgeous collaboration in our short Q & A with Warren Hughes Kitchen Designer, Tilly, who talks us through the project. We hope it inspires you!

Tell us a little bit about Warren Hughes?

We are a family business in Tiverton, Devon. Warren started the company almost 40 years ago making ornate furniture. The business has since grown and we now make a vast range of wooden products including windows, doors, kitchens, staircases and timber framed buildings. Everything we make is also produced in our factory and our timber is cut on our own sawmill 15 minutes away.

Describe the kitchen you’ve recently completed with an Emma Britton Country Garden splashback?

Our lovely customer wanted to update their kitchen to maximise storage space and also include a cooking station behind bifold doors. The cabinets are made using red oak and oak faced sheet material and hand painted to allow for the detail of the grain to show through. We used a moulding on the shaker panelling to match a cabinet that the client already had in her kitchen. We then painted the kitchen in Fired Earth – South Bank to make the cabinets stand out.

The cabinetry and the colours in Emma’s country garden floral splashback complement each other perfectly.

What drew you to Emma’s Country Garden design for this kitchen?

The colours in Country Garden immediately drew us in, all the purples look stunning together! We immediately knew that the Country Garden design would look beautiful in our customers kitchen – and she absolutely loves it.

Was it nice working with another designer on this project?

Emma was great to work with. Once we had confirmed sizes, within a couple days, Emma sent us drawings of what the splashbacks would look like. We were also able to add little meaningful details to make them unique to our client’s kitchen. Like the curves you can see here, that Emma created in one of the splashbacks.

How important are materials, craftsmanship and sustainability in your kitchen designs?

We try to use as sustainably sourced timbers as possible. Most of our solid timbers are locally sourced from surrounding estates, sawn and dried within 15 minutes of our factory. A lot of our kitchens will be installed within an hour of where the materials fell. Craftsmanship is key to the works we produce. The people who make and install our kitchens and other joinery works have been working in the industry for most of their adult lives and have pride in their works.

We like finding suppliers who have a similar ethos in terms of their approach to design and craftsmanship. Working with Emma Britton splashbacks has been a really nice experience.
